Four reasons international patients choose Phoeniks

A clinical background across hospital, research and elite sport.

01 · Hospital research

Institute of Myology

Project lead physiotherapist on the GenoTher gene-therapy program at the Institute of Myology, Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital. I run the SMA-AtHome and Track-DM clinical research protocols on spinal muscular atrophy and myotonic dystrophy type 1. Daily exposure to the most demanding neuromuscular cases in France.

02 · Stroke recovery

Pr Gracies’ department

Trained in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of Pr Jean-Michel Gracies (Albert-Chenevier Hospital, AP-HP, Créteil), a global reference for post-stroke spasticity and the Guided Self-Rehabilitation Contract method. I apply this rigorous, dosage-driven approach to my home practice.

03 · Elite sport

FC Barcelona alumnus

Clinical training at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, FC Barcelona’s training campus, alongside the medical staff of one of the most demanding football clubs in the world. FIFA Diploma in football medicine. Treating elite athletes builds an obsessive standard of care that transfers to every patient at home.

04 · Data science

Quantified rehabilitation

Master 2 in Statistics, Modeling and Health Data Science (Sorbonne University). Validated outcome scales (Berg, Fugl-Meyer, MFM-32, Tinetti, TUG, 6MWT, Borg) recorded at every session. You see your progress on paper, not on impressions. Movement sensors and electrostimulation are part of the toolkit.

Clinical scope

Six clinical fields where I work daily.

Each protocol is built on the most recent international guidelines (HAS, Cochrane, ESO, ECTRIMS, ATS/ERS, ERAS Society, GOLD) and adjusted to your individual profile.

Activity-dependent neuroplasticity, task-specific training, evidence-based dosage.

Post-operative orthopedics

Total hip replacement (THR), total knee replacement (TKR), anterior and posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACL, PCL), rotator cuff repair, shoulder arthroplasty, meniscal repair, ankle ligament reconstruction. ERAS-aligned early mobilization, range-of-motion benchmarks, return-to-sport criteria.

Plastic surgery aftercare

Post-liposuction lymphatic drainage, abdominoplasty rehabilitation, breast reconstruction (post-mastectomy and augmentation), face-lift recovery, BBL aftercare. Evidence-based manual lymphatic drainage, scar tissue mobilization, edema management, return to physical activity. Discreet at-home sessions, no need to attend a clinic.

Lymphedema & lipedema

Primary and secondary lymphedema (post-cancer), lipedema stages 1 to 3. Manual lymphatic drainage based on the Földi and Leduc methods, complete decongestive therapy (CDT), multilayer compression bandaging, exercise therapy. Approach aligned with the International Society of Lymphology (ISL) consensus.

Sport & spine

Tendon injuries (Achilles, patellar, rotator cuff, lateral epicondyle) following Ebonie Rio’s progressive loading framework. Mechanical low-back pain managed with the Maitland concept. Cervicogenic headaches, neck pain in office workers, return-to-running protocols, return-to-sport criteria for all amateur and elite practitioners.

Cardiac & respiratory

Post-myocardial infarction rehabilitation, post-coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. How a course of treatment unfolds

From your first message to discharge.

  1. Initial contact. Call, text, WhatsApp or Signal at +33 6 13 36 35 92, or email william.legendre@phoeniks.fr. Simply state your arrondissement, your availability, and whether you already have a prescription. Please do not send any medical information through these channels, whichever you use — we will discuss it over the phone.
  2. Medical prescription review. Your prescription is reviewed at the first home visit — there is no need to send it in advance. Treatment in France’s public-coverage framework requires a prescription from a physician; outside this framework, private care remains possible, also on medical prescription (French or foreign).
  3. First session at home. Anamnesis, focused clinical examination, validated outcome measures (Berg, Fugl-Meyer, MFM-32, TUG, 6MWT, Borg scale, range-of-motion, isometric strength), shared treatment plan with measurable goals.
  4. Treatment course. Sessions at your home, weekly frequency adjusted to your pathology, evidence-based protocols, instrumented techniques (movement sensors, electrostimulation, manual therapy). Reassessment every 4 to 6 weeks.
  5. Discharge or transition. Once functional goals are reached, discharge with an autonomous home-exercise program. Ongoing follow-up by phone available if needed.

Languages

French, English, Spanish, Catalan — direct medical communication.

Sessions delivered in French (native) and English (professional); they can also be conducted directly in Spanish and Catalan. Written reports and outcome documentation, handed over in person at a session, available in French and English on request. For any other language, communication is facilitated in real time using instant AI translation tools — with no third party.

Where I practice

Paris intra-muros, all 20 districts.

I treat patients exclusively within Paris intra-muros — at private residences, serviced apartments, hotels and palaces in the 1st, 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 16th and 17th arrondissements as well as throughout the city. No clinic, no waiting room: I come to you with the equipment needed for high-quality clinical work.

For practical reasons related to clinical continuity, I do not travel outside Paris intra-muros.

Professional equipment at home

Clinic-grade tools, in your living room.

Neuromuscular electrostimulation, biomechanical motion sensors, manual mobilization and soft-tissue tools, validated outcome scales on tablet, dynamometers, goniometers, resistance bands and progressive-loading hardware. A firm surface at your home (bed, sofa, thick rug) is sufficient for floor-based work.

Frequently asked questions — international patients

Practical answers, before your first message.

Do I need a French medical prescription?

For treatment under the French public-coverage framework, yes — a prescription from a French-registered physician is required. Outside this reimbursement, private care remains possible on medical prescription (French or foreign) — many international patients are treated this way during temporary stays in Paris.

Will my international health insurance cover the sessions?

It depends on your plan. Most international insurers (Cigna Global, Bupa, Allianz, AXA Global Health, GeoBlue, MSH International) reimburse outpatient physiotherapy with prior authorization. I issue itemized invoices in English on request, handed over in person, which you can submit directly to your insurer.

How quickly can a first session be arranged?

Typical lead time is a few days, sometimes the same week for post-operative care or acute injuries. Contact me directly to check availability.

Do you treat children or infants?

My clinical practice is focused on adolescents and adults. For pediatric and infant rehabilitation, I will gladly direct you to dedicated colleagues in Paris.

I am only in Paris for a short stay. Is a single session useful?

Yes, for assessment, education, hands-on technique correction, and a written home-exercise program you can continue in your country. For ongoing care, weekly sessions over 4 to 8 weeks are usually more meaningful.

Can sessions take place at my hotel or serviced apartment?

Yes. Sessions take place wherever you are staying within Paris intra-muros, provided there is enough space and a firm surface (bed, large sofa, or floor with a thick rug).

Are sessions confidential?

Strictly. Bound by professional medical secrecy (Article R.4321-55 French Public Health Code, with criminal liability). No information is ever shared with third parties without your written consent.

How do I book?

Direct contact only. Call, text, WhatsApp or Signal at +33 6 13 36 35 92, or email william.legendre@phoeniks.fr. State your arrondissement, your dates in Paris and your availability — nothing medical in writing: we will discuss it in person.
